Powerfully Moving through Breakdowns to Breakthroughs

Landmark Education has introduced two powerful distinctions: Breakdowns and Breakthroughs

Below is a possible example of how the participation will progress during the 30 days of the retreat, from 0 to 10. It may start out somewhere around 8, the inspiration and presence may go up, or down, and you will notice somewhere around the middle or towards the end of the retreat there is a significant drop, before a giant increase. Your personality structure will undergo constant disassembling and reassembling by the energies of transformation. Notice that it will not be you, but your personality form. The drop is called a breakdown. The rise that follows is a breakthrough. The breakdown is a loss of power, freedom and self-expression. The breakthrough that follows is when one regains the freedom in a new and powerful way. The breakthrough occurs when one clearly distinguishes the cause of the breakdown, accepts it, and creates a new future outside the limits of that cause. It is breakthrough, because the potential cause of disempowerment is realized and filled with awareness, restoring natural state of completeness. When breakdown occurs the most important thing to remember is there is nothing wrong. Every breakdown is a doorway to breakthrough, because it is an opportunity to realize an unconscious aspect of oneself and transcend it. An outdated way of being has to breakdown to make way for an authentic possibility of being, one that is not dictated by the past. In a way, we are seeking breakdowns, to distinguish unconscious elements, which are potentially dormant in your energy body. Meticulous elimination of these unconscious elements of being leads to totality of being.

During the retreat you will experience many ways of being as a reaction to outside circumstances. Awareness with acceptance is the only way to transcend these ways of being, thereby gaining power in the realm of being that will extend down to all areas of your life. Some symptoms of a breakdown include feeling physically, emotionally and mentally sick, bored, depressed or checking out of reality, feeling negative or judgmental, over-thinking without control, mistrusting and doubting yourself and others. The best way to deal with the breakdown is to accept and follow the symptoms, either in meditation or conversation, until you can get to the root cause.
