The CHAKRAS are the energy centers, located in the energy  body. They are energetic forms through which the consciousness manifests itself, and represent distinct worlds within each one of us.  Perception can either fixate in one of those centers, or travel freely between a few of them, depending on the individual karmik potential. Our experience  in this world and the corresponding action depends on which center we are perceiving from.  The movement of awareness between the chakras is not linear, but expansive, therefore the self manifests quite differently in each of those centers.

Located inside perineum, between scrotum and anus.
Bottom Chakra, where Ida, Pingala and Sushumna originate.
Controls the impulses of life. Tribal Chakra - strive to be the same as everyone else, part of the family. Manifestation of physical reality and all material events.
Brahma Granthi - psychic block of attachment to material. The enemies in this chakra are sleep, stupor, laziness, stubbornness and indolence; as well as indulgence in physical moods and conditions.
Ability to control body, breath and mind. Knowledge of Kundalini.

Mooladhara

By meditating on Kundalini in Mooladhara, a man becomes lord of speech, king among men and adept in all learning. He is ever free from physical anguish and remain cheerful at all times.

Located at the base of the spinal column.
Corresponds to reproductive and urinary systems.
Stores mental impressions, karmas, past lives.
This is the first and lowest of the emotional bodies. The enemies residing in this chakra are watery emotions like fear, lust, anxiety and jealousy; as well as any other personal indulgences and attachments.
Psychic properties include loss of fear of water; dawn of intuitive knowledge, awareness of astral entities.

Anatomically related to solar plexus, controls digestion and heat regulations. Junction of prana and apana - distributes pranic energy throughout the entire human framework.
Center of personal will - dynamism, energy and personal achievement.
The enemies in this chakra are fire emotions like anger, rage, passion and terror; as well as any craving or desire to achieve and control.
Psychic powers include ability to create and destroy, self-defense, no fear of fire, body knowledge, freedom from disease and ability to energize Sahasrara.

Manipura

Meditation on Manipura brings knowledge of the entire physical system. Body becomes disease free and luminous, and consciousness does not fall back to lower states.

Located at the inner wall of the spinal cord, around the chest center area.
Chakra where one becomes a Yogi. Boundary between mortal and immortal.
Vishnu Granthi - psychic block of attachment to emotional. Enemies in this chakra are aversion or dislike of reality as it is. Also hatred, scorn, sorrow and hurt; as well as any subtle emotions associated with self-reflection . This is the last of the emotional bodies. Purification of this center brings one to the subtlest emotion of love.
Directly below is the Wish- fulfilling tree, thoughts and desires become fulfilled.
Psychic powers include emotional control; control of senses and prana; ability to heal with cosmic love; Gift of poetry, inspirational speech and concentration; Clairvoyance, clairaudiance and psycho-kenetic ability.

Anahata

A person who enters Anahata becomes very sensitive, has ability to heal by touch or energy, develops non-attachment to worldly things and a constant feeling of optimism. Mind becomes relaxed, free and peaceful - discovery of true freedom

Located at the inner wall of the spinal cord, around the throat area.
Represents state of openness in which life is regarded as provider of experiences that lead to greater understanding. Allows one to flow with life, allowing things to happen as they must.
Allows differentiation between higher level realizations and babbling of the mind. Telepathic communication can be tested for correctness.
The big enemies here are doubt, confusion and duality. In purifying this center, all opposites are reunited and a free flow to Ajna is open, where no duality exists.
Gateway to liberation for one whose senses are pure.
Psychic powers include imperishability; full knowledge of the Vedas, past, present and future; ability to not eat; read thoughts, consume Ambrosia from Bindu and fight off poison.

Vishudha

Top Chakra, where Ida, Pingala and Sushumna connect - giving ability to balance the flow.
Center of creativity, manifestation, astral projection and psychic development.
Rudra Granthi - psychic block of attachment to individuality.
Ability to enter another form at will; Realization of unity with Brahma.



Ajna Chakra

Ajna is a witnessing center where one becomes observer of all events, including those in the body and mind. Here the level of awareness allows one to see the hidden essence behind all appearance.

Tiny spot at the top back of the head, at the little dimple.
The ultimate spot out of which all things manifest. Origin of creation, where Oneness first divides to produce world of multiple forms. In this point all opposites coexist and it contains the blueprint for creation.
Seat of nectar and poison: Nectar is a very intoxicating secretion. Yogis can live solely on this ambrosial fluid - one needs nothing more for survival. Body vitality becomes independent from food.
There are two main karmic paths: Pravritti - looking away from bindu to the outside, away from self knowledge, to bondage. Nivritti - the return path to freedom, to the source of creation.

It is said that when Bindu Visagra awakens, the cosmic sound of OM is heard and one realizes the source of all creation, emanating from Bindu point and crescent moon above the symbol of Om.

Located at the top of the head. A place where the un-manifest Spirit resides. A Yogi who enter this chakra reaches the highest state of being -- Samadhi. Individuality totally dissolves and no description can even touch upon this level of awareness.



Sahasrara

When a Yogi touches upon this chakra, which is not even a chakra, absolute knowledge of entire universe becomes available to him, for he achieves the highest realization of the Oneness which is himself.
